Corporate IR Strategy

As a triple degree qualified expert (and an IR nerd!) I help executive teams navigate the minefield of Industrial Relations.

It’s been a busy few years and of recent, I’ve been breaking down the largest employment law changes in over a decade and providing easy to digest advice and pragmatic options.

My style is considered, relaxed and with a touch of humour.

Pay Compliance

I guided a large national employer with over 60,000 casual employees a year, with over 50 modern awards and many client EAs into framework with enhanced compliance and controls.

I have assisted a consulting firm with developing and finessing a method of analysing and visually presenting industrial instruments in new and easily understood ways for clients.

Governance

As a Certified Practitioner of Human Resources (CPHR), I help improve culture in both designing and running HR projects, typically involving compliance.

These include projects and frameworks to address Secure Jobs, Respect@Work, COVID-19, Policy Review, Pay Compliance and more!

Building HR Capability

As a consultant, I have helped grow the confidence of many HR professionals from a wide range of industries.

In house, I design and deliver training, workflows and resources to upskill HR teams to raise awareness for early escalation, reduce risk, enhance compliance and the employee experience.

Employee Relations

Expert Case Management

While I enjoy raising the ER/IR Maturity of workplaces to prevent issues, I have a dab hand at working through challenging live situations.

Data Driven Insights

Whenever available in house, I use case management systems in order to track employee issues.

With these insights, I can identify trends across times, divisions, managers and employees and use that information to build targeted strategies and training.

I’m a nationally accredited mediator and professional member of the resolution institute.

I have grown services for ER Departments in the past, and I have transformed ER Teams between different service delivery models.

COVID-19 Vaccination Project

I advised, developed, project managed & successfully delivered a national, all employee vaccination policy and project in a complex, changing environment.

It was a contentious, technical, personal and novel situation with many stakeholders (incl. unions) with no well trodden path to follow.

I delivered to a high standard with total litigation cost < $5,000

Industrial Relations

Enterprise Bargaining

With consulting and in-house, I’ve provided tailored strategies, drafted enterprise agreements, performed BOOT analysis and handled procedural matters before the Commission.

Lobbying

I have been an employer representative of a peak industry body (RSCA) and have lobbied to government in relation to my employer and in contributions to the peak body.

In particular I drafted and submitted Randstad’s submission in relation to the Victorian Inquiry into the On-Demand Workforce.

Advocacy in The Commission

Both in consulting and in-house, I have represented clients and my employers for Unfair Dismissal, General Protections, Enterprise Bargaining.

I have also represented my employers in the Australian Human Rights Commission for discrimination claims.

Union Relations

Over the years, I have handled matters with the ETU, CFMMEU, ASU, TWU, AWU, AMIEU and SDA.

When in-house, my style is on fostering productive and sustainable relationships with the respective unions in order to facilitate better outcomes across the board.

I have been an IR mentor since 2021. Having benefited from a great mentor earlier in my career, I enjoy paying it forward
